As the CEO of Hazon Holdings, Victor Gbenga Afolabi leads a dynamic holding company with a broad portfolio spanning telecommunications, renewable energy, healthcare, marketing, media, and technology consultancy. His leadership is marked by a steadfast commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As the Visioneer of GDM Group, a leading Marketing, Media, and Technology consulting firm, VGA has championed groundbreaking initiatives for over 250 global brands. His role in executing Africa’s most extensive intervention program for the Federal Government of Nigeria is a testament to his leadership and ability to drive impactful change and deliver flawless execution.
VGA’s passion for building a thriving innovation ecosystem led to establishing the Eko Innovation Centre (EIC), one of Nigeria’s leading tech hubs. EIC is a launchpad for entrepreneurial talent, providing a platform for nurturing and commercialising ideas. In the last five years, the centre has received over 6,000 entries from startups, incubated and accelerated over 40 startups, and provided over $500,000 in grant funding to support these ventures, transforming ideas into scalable businesses. The EIC has significantly contributed to the growth of the Nigerian tech ecosystem, fostering innovation and creating a platform for entrepreneurial success.EIC training programs have equipped over 4,500 individuals with essential digital and entrepreneurial skills in the same period. EIC’s developmental programs have had over 102,000 participants, establishing a vibrant community that drives technology and business innovation in Nigeria.
VGA was pivotal in the team that developed the Lagos State Innovation Master Plan in 2019. His current position on the Lagos State Science, Research, and Innovation Council (LASRIC) board clearly demonstrates his unwavering commitment to promoting innovation in the region.
VGA, an alumnus of Lagos Business School, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from Ahmadu Bello University, a Master’s in Managerial Psychology from the University of Ibadan, and an MBA from Manchester Business School. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at Hult International Business School, with a scholarly focus on entrepreneurship, innovation, and strategy.
